Here's the good news: you are not alone!

Picky eating is often developmentally normal. It is most intense between ages 2 and 6, with up to 50% of 19–24 month-olds exhibiting this behaviour.

There are many factors that can cause picky eating including sensory sensitivities, developmental and medical factors, as well as environmental factors.

More than anything, it is important to know that picky eating
is:

Not intentionally bad behaviour

Not a parenting failure

More common than most families realize

When to Seek Advice

If picky eating is accompanied by the following things, consultation with a pediatrician or pediatric feeding specialist is recommended:

Poor Growth

Severe anxiety around food
