We are preparing for our first camping trip of the summer so I thought I’d share some of my favourite recipes to bring along to the camp ground.
One of my hot tips for camping trip food is to prepare as much of it as you can in advance. This will save you from trying to cook using multiple pots and pans on a fire or small camping stove. Also, dishes will be that much easier AND you will have more time to just enjoy.
This grilled pizza comes with us on pretty much every camping trip. I encourage you to bring ingredients so people can personalize their own pizza (or half pizza) and savour every bite!
*Note: you can absolutely make this at home on a grill instead of a campfire.
INGREDIENTS:
Dough:
1 scant cup warm water
1 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp salt
2.5 cups flour
Toppings:
Extra-virgin olive oil, for brushing and drizzling
2 cups grated mozzarella
1 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced or chopped
1 cup of cherry tomatoes, sliced
4-6 cremini mushrooms, chopped
Pepperoni slices (to preference)
Freshly chopped basil, for serving (optional)
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Preparing the pizza dough: Be sure to prepare the dough before the camping trip or buy one from the grocery store. You will not want to do this at the campground,
