PREP TIME:  3 mins |  SERVES: 4-6

Pitcher of lemonade with lemon slices, a whole lemon, a halved lemon, a glass of juice, and a small bowl of sugar on a beige tabletop.

It’s that time of year where it’s starting to get super hot and we need to think about hydration. I’ve recently been in the market for electrolyte powder packets and one thing has become very clear: they are expensive!

Here is a recipe you can make at home and will have the same positive effects. Feel free to add a bit of your juice or herb of preference!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water (or coconut water for extra potassium)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt (unrefined = more minerals)
  • 1–2 tsp raw honey or maple syrup (for glucose + taste)
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon or lime (vitamin C + flavour)
  • Optional: a splash of orange juice or a pinch of magnesium powder

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a mason jar or water bottle.
  2. Shake or stir well until everything’s dissolved.
  3. Chill in the fridge or serve over ice.

Variations:

  • Post-Workout Boost: Use half water + half coconut water
  • Berry Twist: Add a few smashed raspberries or a splash of 100% cranberry juice
  • Minty Refresh: Muddle a few fresh mint leaves
